We have great news to share – this morning we officially opened up shop in one of the world’s fastest-growing technology hubs! The doors are open to our new state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC) in Belfast, Northern Ireland – and we couldn’t be more excited.
Our new Belfast SOC, located in the city center of Belfast (Centrepoint, 24 Ormeau Avenue, Belfast), will have a specific focus on helping those in the finance, education, healthcare, and retail industries ensure they are protected from the latest cybersecurity threats the world has to offer. Our Belfast team monitors customer networks 24/7 for potential breaches – and then helps customers remove and repair threats before they become problems.
There were many reasons that Belfast was the perfect fit for Cygilant. For one, did you know that Belfast and Boston are sister cities? In 2014, the two cities signed an agreement to build stronger economic development, trade and investment, tourism, youth, cultural and educational linkages with each other. We are proud to be the latest example of this strong, mutually-beneficial relationship.
Belfast’s incredibly skilled talent pool was also a major draw for us. The city is one of the hottest areas for new technology investment and innovation – with several other top technology companies moving into the area. The available talent pool is also consistently replenished with new graduates from the highly-regarded universities in the city. This mix of talent plus increasing involvement by global technology companies in the area added up to make Belfast a no-brainer.
To make this expansion happen, Cygilant teamed with Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI), the regional business development agency whose goal is to help grow the local Northern Ireland economy. The agency has helped us secure office space, foster local partnerships and increase local hiring efforts.
With a physical presence in EMEA, Cygilant can continue to build and foster best of breed partnerships in Europe, while complying with all GDPR regulations. As you may remember, earlier this year we made our first strides overseas when we announced a partnership with London’s Barac, a company that protects organizations against malware hidden in encrypted traffic through the use of AI metadata analysis.
The office currently employs over 25 people in roles ranging from Cybersecurity Advisor (CSA) to SOC engineer. As we grow our presence in Belfast, we’ll be on the lookout for new local partnerships to make and skilled talent to hire. If you know of either, please drop us a line here and we can start a conversation.
